STRAWBERRY CAKE

You can't tell in the picture, but this cake is about 24-inches (about 0.6 meters) across.  Lots of fresh strawberries!

A BALCONY TO SPEND THE SUMMER ON

Balcony and flowers (even a grape vine trellis for shade later in the summer) in Maletto ... passed this while walking up a steep hill to the main festival area weekend before last.

SUMMER SCENERY

Summer has begun and the land is drying out ... this is near Randazzo.

OLD JAIL CELL IN RANDAZZO

Talk about low tolerance for crime. 

Jail cell from the late 1800's and earlier ... the person was walled into it and left ... there were four of these cells in one of the museums we saw in Randazzo last Sunday.

NEAT SIGN - NOT COMPLETELY SURE WHAT IT SAYS ...

It looks to say that Sr. Paolo Vagliasindi, in parliment and in government, he was a champion of liberty and that his work was noble and lives on in the history of the world ... there is something about unripe cut  (immaturamente troncata) ... it may be that his life's work went uncompleted due to some event. He lived in the late 19th century and the Randazzo Archaeological Museum is located in what was his home.

SIGNS ...SIGNS ... EVERYWHERE ARE SIGNS ...

Sign directing visitors to the Swabian Castle in Randazzo (town in Catania province).   During WW2, most of Randazzo was distroyed - fortunately the castle was not.

UMMM....FRESH BREAD
